Welcome to AFAS NSWAFAS was established in Sydney in 1965, with the objective of helping Australian scientists and engineers returning from French fellowships to maintain their links with France. In those days the association was known by the rather cumbersome name of the Australian French Association of Professional and Technical Specialists. It changed its name to the current Australian French Association for Science and Technology in the late 1990s. With the later establishment of sister associations in Melbourne and Canberra, the Sydney-based group became know as AFAS NSW. While AFAS NSW formerly worked closely with the Sydney-based French Trade Commission, it has links these days are with UbiFrance (L'Agence Française pour le Développement International des Entreprises – French Agency for International Business Development). |
